Receive invoice and deposit payments with Mercado Pago¶
Mercado Pago is available in Settings > Payment Gateways for shops in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. Payments go to the shop's own Mercado Pago account.
Connect your account¶
Choose Connect Mercado Pago, authorize Stone Project, and return to Payment Gateways. Set the gateway as active and, if you want to use it for new portal payments, select Default gateway and save.
You can also connect with your own Mercado Pago application credentials:
- Create a Checkout Pro application using the Preferences API in Mercado Pago Developers.
- Open Notifications > Webhooks in that application. Enter the webhook URL shown in Stone Project, select Payments, and save the configuration to obtain the signing secret.
- In Stone Project, enter the application's Access Token, Public Key and Webhook signing secret. Select the matching environment, then save. Stone Project verifies the account with Mercado Pago.
- Activate the gateway and select Default gateway if it should receive new portal payments. Other configured gateways remain connected.
The Mercado Pago account and the shop must be in the same country. Test credentials require Sandbox; a real account requires Production. Invoice and deposit currency must match the Mercado Pago account's local currency.
What the customer sees¶
The customer opens the invoice or deposit link and continues to Mercado Pago's hosted checkout. Mercado Pago offers the payment methods and installment options available for that seller and country.
Returning to Stone Project does not itself confirm payment. The portal and the shop show the payment as pending until Mercado Pago confirms it. For Pix, boleto and other offline methods, the customer must complete the additional payment step shown by Mercado Pago. A rejected or cancelled attempt is not counted as received money.
Opening the same checkout again reuses its payment link. If the amount or currency changed, Stone Project closes the old preference before offering the updated amount. If a payment is already underway, wait for its result before starting another checkout.
Refunds¶
Open the payment in Stone Project and use Refund. Enter the full available amount or a smaller amount for a partial refund. The payment, invoice and financial balance reflect the amount returned. Refunds issued directly in Mercado Pago are also reconciled when the provider notifies Stone Project.
Changing the browser's return URL, refreshing the confirmation page or receiving the same notification twice does not record a second payment.
